Why I Stopped Counting Your Christmas Cards

I didn’t realize what the counting was costing me until it stopped.

Prefer to listen? I recorded a full audio version for members inside Invisible World.

Heart

I spend a lot of time trying to get noticed.

Bit of a problem actually.

See—I want her to look at me, maybe even wink.

I definitely want you to read me, you know that.

And I want Kevin to take my call. I’ve already left 3 messages with his assistant, and it feels like the deal is falling off the table. After 2 years of due diligence, why are we still not signing term sheets?

Sometimes over the holidays, when I go to your house I count your Christmas cards. Why? I want to see if I have more taped up than you.

I hate saying that out loud but it’s true.

And when I pulled up at the stop light you didn’t look over. I still love my truck. But it’s 10 years old, is that why you didn’t look over?

But I told myself it’s okay because I’m on my way to work. Where hopefully my email folder is stacked with people who said yes, who noticed; don’t worry I’ll get back to you 😅

The light turned green, I grinned. Yeah. Then the contract will sign and the deal will close.

Then next time when you look over again I’ll be in that ZR1 Corvette. How come you can’t stop looking now?!?

BTW, ever notice supercars always have clear class, or just a light window tint? They want you to see.

And I want to be noticed.

I’ve always admired HDT, yeah as in Henry David Thoreau. Is Walden on your shelf too?

Any way you slice it, I’m inspired by the two years he spent at Walden Pond living alone, writing, observing nature, and testing how little a person actually needs.

Now obviously I can’t do that because I’m too busy trying to get noticed.

But I like playing make believe (my favorite game), so what if I did go? What then?

What if I did not go to be enlightened, or to striptease the ego, or to find myself, or even to get away from it all. Yeah → What if I just went because . . . well, that’s where I wanted to go?

Hmm. What if I made every decision like that? Even if you didn’t notice?

What if I kept my truck another 10 years, is that okay?

What if I got the teal and black ZR1 Corvette with clear glass? What if I permanently left it in the garage just to simply admire the engineering and design?

And what if I just went to Walden Pond because—well—that’s simply where I wanted to go?

Friend, I’ve been auditing my happiness lately.

I’ve found I’m most happy when I accept I don’t need to reflect light, I don’t need to orbit around shiny things, or bright people.

I’m more happy being an imperfect me, than a perfect version of you.

So then the practice…our practice this week at Invisible World is:

You are star not a moon 💫

Not a Hollywood star per se, more powerful than that.

The moon spends all day hustling and chasing Earth, all while Earth is just chasing the Sun.

We are made out of star stuff elements, not moon stuff.

The moon is almost entirely inorganic, with no carbon‑based compounds, no water in bulk form (only trace ice in shadowed craters), and no nitrogen or hydrogen in significant amounts.

It simply wants to get noticed, it’s just waiting for the Sun’s brilliance. Just wanting to get noticed and reflect borrowed light.

So this week Jonz, spend your energy generating from your core, your light, your hue, your superpowers, your gifts.

The Sun doesn’t need to get noticed because it’s too focused generating it’s heat.

You have your own light. Use it.

100? Fine 100:

I actually hope there is something you noticed here today. That you see through me and notice. That you see Invisible World is our Walden Pond. Is it possible?

Good luck this week, me too right? See you again Thursday.

Mind 🌞

The Sun is mostly hydrogen, and so are you.

The Sun is about 91% hydrogen atoms by count.
Your body is about 63% hydrogen atoms by count (because water is H₂O).

Soul ⚡️

These are my three favorite Walden nuggets:

“Things do not change; we change.”

“The question is not what you look at, but what you see.”

“Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.”
