What? Rainbows are not real???

When I was 11, my buddy Cam and I were out playing. It just rained.

We saw a rainbow. Ooh 🌈 🤩 💰️ 

How cool would it be if we rode through a rainbow??? Too cool. We jumped our bikes and chased it down.

I pedaled » hard » forever » but never crossed the rainbow path 😕 

That’s because rainbows are not real.

Scientifically, they don’t exist as physical objects that you can touch or approach. You can’t fly through one in a plane or pedal to its base.

It’s not a ‘thing’ in the sky—it’s an optical phenomenon created by the interaction of light and water droplets, and perceived uniquely by each observer in their brain.

It’s just an illusion, just a personal projection through your line of sight 🔭 

I spent 4 decades of my life ‘knowing’ that rainbows were empirically real. Sorta like:

I need her. I need him. I need you. I need to hit this goal. I need this to not happen. I need to close a deal. I need more downloads. I need to take that trip. I need more hair on my head. I need that employee. Is it true?

Or just an illusion?

Friend, could it just be an optical phenomenon created by personal projection?

🌈 What causes a rainbow?

Sunlight enters a raindrop, bends (refraction), reflects off the inside surface, and bends again as it exits. This splits the light into its component colors.

Rainbows only form at a specific angle—about 42° from the direction opposite the sun. That angle is unique to your eyes. So the rainbow you see is yours alone.

It’s your rainbow. Your dream. You are the one to make it happen.
