Hey Friend, what do you dream of?

Probably more than one right?

Well last week I burned a half day blowing through Legoland. My 12 year-old froze in front of the carnival basketball shot game. The wall of ginormous stuffed animals lured him in.

Son: “Dad I’ll make it”

Me: “Son that game is rigged, they modify the rim. Look there at the sign”, I said proudly pointing to their disclaimer posted to the side.

Son: “I’ll make it”

Me: “Nah, it’s a waste of money. Crooked rim”

Son: “I’ll make it”

Me: “Fine. Fine. I’ll put it in the $10 bucks for 3 shots, but you have to pay me back when we get home”

Son: “I’ll make it”

$10 bucks and only one shot later . . .

🏆️ He toted the 3 ft trophy stuffy around the park, I was proud he made the shot, but even more that he took charge of his dream . . . in spite of me.

I’m not just his dad, I’m also his basketball coach; so me more than anyone on the planet should have said: “You’ll make it . . . I know you’ll make it”. I didn’t.

So Friend, what are you dreaming these days?

It’s nice to have coaches, friends, family, parents, partners, employees, clients, teachers, or bosses believe and encourage, but it’s just nice » not necessary. You’re in charge.
