Look I know how this sounds. But today’s is so good. All time Jonz favorites good.

Here we go Friend . . .

So when you get knocked down, you get back up right, you dust off square up and double down, you crank your motivational playlist…you grind it out 💪

But—what about when are crushing it, have the big lead? Like I know some of you do right now.

Well then for you, here’s one of my favorite images in all the cosmos:

I know right. . . the athleticism is amazing, the dive, the risk, the desire, the extension, the full send, but Look Haaarder . . .

The player’s name is Dennis Rodman. Played for the Chicago Bulls. Teammates with Michael Jordan, they won 3 Championships together.

Look Harder, what else do you see?

⚔️ It appears like this was a battle cry crux, a must-win moment, a game-on-the-line fighting for a playoff win critical arc in the Bulls high stakes mission. Yeah?

No. No.

It was none of that. Opposite really. A throwaway game 🗑️

In fact, at the time of this play, the Bulls were already in 1st place of the Eastern NBA conference. Against the Warriors, who didn’t even make the playoffs. Not only that, they were up by 20 points when he dove for the ball.

So why? Why dive like that?

How is he so comfortable . . . at being uncomfortable?

Oh this dude, just doing it for the money? No. The play happened in 1996, and by 1995, Rodman already made 14M dollars in salary alone, not counting endorsements.

Oh this dude, just diving due to his sheer championship zeal? Nah. By 1995, he already won 2 championships with the Pistons🏆️

Then Why?

100? I don’t know. I don’t know.

100? Me? » I get soft when I get a big lead. ‘Oh good, now I don’t have to grind so hard. Now I can coast a bit. Sleep in, skip the gym, skip date night, skip the homework, spend the money on upgraded first class seats…I mean come on, I’m up by 20 points.’

Right around that point is where I get burned, and I end up » not making the playoffs.

I want to know what you think. How can I give everything? How can I play like it’s do or die—even when it’s just an ordinary everday game?

Share your insight and join this discussion at Invisible World.

I’m keen to get your take on how someone can burn at 27M degrees like Rodman did here. Up by 20.

By the way . . . what was the result of the diving play? He didn’t even keep the ball in play, it was a turnover, out of bounds, off Rodman.

Mind 🤯

That game was February 22, 1997

Chicago Bulls beat Golden State Warriors 120 to 87

Dennis Rodman scored no points, because he took zero shots.
