Growth? First you must cut it off!
Pruning—trimming back and sacrifice fuels expansion. Why the real magic of growth often begins with letting go.

‘Cut the flowers off!’ Are you kidding me? I rolled my eyes 🙄
🪴 The lady at the nursey doubled-down in confidence, ‘Absolutely. Go home, plant it in your yard, then cut off all the flowers.’ 🙄
Me: ‘But I’m buying the plant for the flowers’ (obviously).
Her: ‘Trust me. Most people don’t, but cut them off. It will drive energy back into the roots. If you sacrifice, you’ll eventually have the strongest most striking bulbs.’
I went home, planted it, but didn’t make the cut.
Life continued just fine. But I’ve always wondered what would’ve happened.
Sure cut off the dead ones. That’s easy. But nice flowers? It’s hard.
Bulbs don’t make nice bulbs though. Strong roots do. And that’s what pruning does 💯
Strong roots flow energy, minimizing strain from transitions: from the cold wind to the incessant heat.

I eventually did my research and learned she was right. Planting isn’t for impressing. The focus is to get deep roots, metabolize stress, and prepare for legacy-level blooming.
Friend, if you’re going through a transition in life right now, consider pruning. Even some good flowers may need to go » to get to legacy level.
What flowers can you prune, so you get lasting impact over just temporary impressions?

The Moonflower (Ipomoea alba) blooms only at night 🌒
Moonflowers open at dusk and close by dawn, timing their bloom to align with the rhythms of the moon. Their large, trumpet-shaped white flowers reflect moonlight, creating a glowing presence in night gardens.
Not every bloom is meant to be witnessed. Some are meant to be felt alone in our gardens.
Hmm…so you be you, no matter the audience.

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence — Sound of Silence (song), Paul Simon
