Can you surrender the island?

Letting go isn't defeat, it's making space for something even better.

4 years ago I invested $1000 into a public company called Fisker.

Hello gorgeous! ♨️ 💥 😍

Fisker Karma sedan😮‍💨

It’s an EV car company. Or it was.

Me: ‘This is going to be the next Tesla—and I’m getting in early.’

I’ll fast forward. They never mass produced the car. In fact they shifted to a forgetful SUV.

In 18 months my investment balance went from $1000, to 750, to 500, to 0. Bankrupt.

I watched it go too, month by month.

And I never sold.

Am I Napoleon? Are you? Is it possible?

I laugh that he was so obsessed with the Haitian island, that it caused him to make the worst real estate decision: Of—All—Time.

For 3 cents an acre he sold off the Louisiana Territory. Like 1/3 of America 🌎️

Couldn’t let the little island go » even as it was already slipping away by revolutionists. What if he accepted reality, accepted the loss, even leaned into the loss?

What could have been? 🤔

If I would’ve accepted reality, sold with $500 left, and put that into my best holding (Nvidia), then the $500 would be over 10K today.

But I couldn’t let go.

Couldn’t surrender the tiny island. The allure. The delusions of gorgeous grandeur.

Friend, is there a little island you’re obsessed with today, that’s slipping away, could it be time to let go, so you can focus on your 828,000 Louisiana acres?

Mind 🤓

🌴 Haiti is just 1% the size of the land acquired in the Louisiana Purchase.
